All-terrain tyre launched in South Africa
A new all-terrain tyre built to meet the demands of off-road driving was recently showcased at the Lion and Safari Park in Johannesburg.
The launch of BFGoodrich’s T/A KO3 tyre included demonstrations on real-world off-road conditions to highlight the tyre’s enhanced traction, toughness, and durability.
The KO3 tyre is an enhancement of the KO2 predecessor and is engineered to provide improved performance across a variety of terrains, including gravel roads, rocky trails, and mud.
The launch was aimed at demonstrating the tyre’s ability to perform in challenging conditions, from muddy trails to steep, rocky inclines, and uneven gravel roads, where grip, toughness, and durability were put to the test.
The advanced tread design of the tyre helps provide stronger traction on surfaces such as soft sand, loose gravel, and rocky terrains.
CoreGard technology has also been introduced to reinforce the sidewalls of the tyre, offering protection against punctures and sharp debris. This feature is particularly important in rocky terrains, where there is a high risk of sidewall damage. A new compound and design helps to optimise the tyre’s treadwear providing a longer lifespan and more consistent performance, making it ideal for long-distance drivers who travel on both urban roads and off-road.
“The KO3’s debut is an exciting moment for off-roaders and bakkie drivers in South Africa. With its enhanced durability and performance, the KO3 is designed to handle the toughest conditions, offering drivers peace of mind on all terrains - whether they’re venturing into the wilderness, navigating gravel roads, or tackling daily work routes,” said BFGoodrich marketing director Ashutosh Jha.
The tyre is available in 13 sizes and additional sizes will be introduced throughout 2025, making the KO3 accessible to a wider range of vehicles.
