AMIS helping to shape the future of mining in Africa

AMIS sales and business development manager Mbumba Ntaba talks to Mining Weekly at this year’s Investing in African Mining Indaba. He shares how the company is helping to shape the future of mining in Africa.
African Mineral Standards (AMIS) is a leading manufacturer of a range of matrix matched Certified Reference Materials (CRMs).
With more than 20 years of existence, AMIS holds accreditation from the International Organisation for Standardisation under ISO 17034 for a CRM producer, ISO 17043 Proficiency Testing provision and ISO9001 for Quality Management Systems.
The company’s CRMs are produced to assist mining companies and mineral laboratories with routine analysis.
AMIS sets itself apart from competitors through its stocking of one of the biggest ranges of CRMs in the world for the mining industry and provides full and complete information and data on its certificates. Economic, deleterious and major elements are characterised, often by multiple analytical methods. Individual assay results, if not published on the certificates, are available on request if customers wish to do additional stats.
AMIS, a proud supporter of Women in Mining South Africa, also publishes statistics for the uneconomic trace elements. Its reference materials are tested by many laboratories in different countries and are certified by an independent geochemist.
