Vancouver-based Bunker Hill Mining said on Tuesday announced changes to its finance leadership as the company moved to concentrate its executive team in the US ahead of the planned restart of the Bunker Hill mine in Idaho.

CFO and corporate secretary Gerbrand van Heerden has resigned to return to Southern Africa to pursue new mining opportunities.

He has been replaced by Bradley Barnett, who has been appointed interim CFO and corporate secretary with immediate effect, while the company begins a formal search for a permanent US-based CFO.

The company also promoted Mark McBride to VP finance.

Executive chairperson Richard Williams said Van Heerden had played a key role in preparing the company for its transition back to operations.

“Gerbrand has done a superb job at Bunker Hill, helping to strengthen our balance sheet, building robust financial systems capable of supporting our transition into an operating mining company and ensuring the restart of operations in the first half of 2026.

“As the company seeks to have its team located in the US, it became clear that a transition was the best path for both Gerbrand and the company and we wish him well in his next endeavours.”

Williams welcomed Barnett’s return to the company in an interim capacity.

“We welcome back Bradley Barnett as interim CFO and corporate secretary. Respected as one of the founding members of the new, ex-Barrick management team that took up the Bunker Hill turnaround challenge in 2020.”

Bunker Hill said Barnett brings more than 30 years of international business experience, including over 15 years in the global mining sector across North America, South America, Africa and Asia.

The company remains on track to restart operations at the Bunker Hill mine during the first half of 2026 and ramp up to commercial production thereafter.
