The Citrus Growers’ Association of Southern Africa (CGA) has appointed Dr Boitshoko Ntshabele CEO effective February 1.

He succeeds outgoing CEO Justin Chadwick, who will be retiring at the end of March.

CGA, which represents more than 1 500 citrus growers in South Africa and neighbouring countries, says Ntshabele has extensive experience in the private and public sectors, including as biosecurity director at the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

He has also held leadership positions at Onderstepoort Biological Products and was an agricultural counsellor in the South African Embassy to Belgium, Luxemburg and the Mission to the European Union from 2015 to 2019.

Ntshabele’s successful track record in management, policy development, international engagement and negotiation positions him as a knowledgeable advocate for the interests of local citrus growers, comments CGA chairperson Gerrit van der Merwe.

Ntshabele says he looks forward to shape the future of the local citrus industry, especially as the sector is poised for growth in production and exports with more market access for growers.
