Waterjet cutting company Aquajet is tackling the challenges of the waterjet cutting industry head-on while reducing abrasive material waste.

“Making changes to enhance our accuracy, speed and cost effectiveness allows us to effectively manage market fluctuations and customer needs,” says Aquajet technical sales, marketing and branding manager Dwayne Carlse.

Aquajet – which boasts an inventory of five waterjet cutting machines at its warehouse in Alrode, Johannesburg – offers various manufacturing and fabrication industry players “cutting-edge” technologies, paired with the company’s computer-aided design software, to complete full-cycle cutting procedures efficiently and precisely on various materials.

Additionally, the company can produce high-quality waterjet cutting results with little to no material waste and an “almost-harmless” effect on the environment, while creating complex project designs using various lightweight and/or hea-vy-weight material.

Aquajet meets customer requirements efficiently by producing high-quality products quickly, with five waterjet cutting options fulfilling fully customisable orders timeously and accurately.

As testament to its commitment to ongoing innovation and following a customer-centric approach that exceeds expectations, Aquajet has been receiving requests that require use of its cutting materials in such a way that it does not produce any heat, consequently reducing the risk of changes in the composition of materials when heat is produced, says Carlse.

The company has recently completed the process of cutting hardened stainless steel to extract a particular piece of the material for a customer.

“The required piece . . . had to be cut from an existing part in a specific position to minimise any tension on the material while cutting. To successfully complete the project, we had to create specific programming and place tags on the material piece on very specific areas to avoid de- formation.”

Depsite this being a complex project, Aquajet was able to deliver the product to the client with a minimum tolerance of 1 mm, as per the client’s desire.
