Composite anti-slip cleats make stairways safer
A range of stairway cleats manufactured from fully composite polymer offers a number of innovative new features.
Made in Nano555 high visibility green – said to be the most visible colour to the human eye – the anti-slip stair nosing is designed to give every step a clear line and a defining edge to the grating, making stairways safer for on-site personnel.
The U-Tred Pro forms part of Amco Industries’ range of anti-slip solutions and incorporates the same self-locking non-return barbs as the company’s traditional U-Treds. The barbs clip under the bottom of the mesh when installed, to ensure that they can’t be removed or loosened.
The offset lug pattern on the top surface of the cleat is a new feature designed to further improve safety. The top of the tread is sloped behind each lug to ensure that any dried mud slides back off the tread, leaving the lug exposed and ready for use. The lugs still maintain an aggressive profile but are angled back slightly towards the centre – to help prevent boots from being caught in the tread, especially if users drag their feet.
Additional benefits and features of the cleats include:
- Self-cleaning, rounded top bridge
- Aggressive small cleats adhere to soles of boots to further prevent slipping
- UV-stabilised
- Double-acting non-return locks
- Fire-retardant: melting temperature of 220 oC
- High tensile and impact strength for longer wear-life
- Non-corrosive: petroleum and chemical resistant
- Light weight: can be air freighted at minimal cost
The use of rust-resistant composite polymer to manufacture the U-Tred Pro makes it particularly suitable for use on offshore gas and oil rigs and other marine platforms, where metal on metal contact is to be avoided.
The anti-slip grate cleats are also suited for use in industries such as mining infrastructure, drag lines, marine infrastructure, shipping ports, grain handling infrastructure, wineries, breweries, paper mills, timber mills and commercial buildings.
