Digital Roll Label Converting: 101
This article has been supplied.
Digital presses offer great flexibility, especially for multiple label versions and personalised data printing. And, for customers that need to print multiple label variants or versions, digital printing enables version changes on the fly without losing valuable time. This is also very beneficial for on-pack changes that need to be made quickly, or for promotional campaigns or seasonal changes.
So, what is digital roll label converting? Let’s break it down:
Digital labels
Digital labels are a type of pressure-sensitive label that is printed on state-of-the-art digital printing presses. The benefits are vast and include:
Fast turnaround times thanks to quick set-up times
-
Attention-grabbing quality with photographic-like finishes
-
Short-runs and complete consistency between reprints
-
Cost saving in storage and waste
-
Design flexibility is possible as changes can be made on the fly
Roll labels
Roll labels come on a roll – a continuous strip of labels attached to a liner and wound around a core. Roll labels are a good option for purchasing labels in bulk and for manufacturers who have longer run requirements. Label applicators are used to secure the labels to products.
Label converting
Label converting relates to the processes that take place after a label is printed and has a lot to do with the final look of the label. A few basic converting techniques include:
- Die cutting, which cuts the label into its design-specified shape and size
- Foiling, used to convey quality and shelf appeal
In 2019, Pyrotec PackMedia made a groundbreaking purchase of a Durst Tau 330 RSC eight-colour digital label press and an ABG Digicon Series 3 finishing machine.
Our new digital press and finishing machine ensure we stay close to our customers, offering them the best possible service and turnaround times, as well as eye-catching, consistent print quality.
