DRC fuel storage terminal to create jobs
The Matadi bulk fuel storage terminal, which was completed in August at a cost of $100-million, will secure the supply of high-quality reliable fuels for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the region.
The terminal is owned by global energy company Puma Energy.
COO Jonathan Molapo says the creation of the terminal has brought employment to the area and will assist in the development of the DRC's infrastructure and meet its fuel supply requirements.
“It is equipped to handle gasoline, jet fuel and gasoil and is an important hub for the shipment and distribution of petroleum products, providing security of product supply to the DRC and its neighbouring countries,” he adds.
The terminal includes four 6 500 m3 clean fuels storage tanks with truck loading and unloading racks.
In addition, the site includes a new administration building, a firefighting system, a floating jetty and interconnecting jetty pipelines, further interconnecting piping with another site and a 2 km concrete access road.
