Name of the Project
Dubbo Firming Power Station.

Location
Yarrandale road, in an existing heavy industrial area of north Dubbo, in the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone of New South Wales, in Australia.

Project Owner/s
Dubbo Firming Nominees, a wholly owned subsidiary of Squadron Energy.

Project Description
Squadron proposes to build a firming power station with a nominal capacity of 64 MW.

Ancillary facilities will include an on-site buried gas storage pipeline about 2.5 km long; gas compression and regulation facilities; hydrogen generation (of up to 20 MW); compression, storage and blending facilities, and administration buildings and storage facilities.

Potential Job Creation
About 150 construction jobs and six operational jobs are expected to be created.

Capital Expenditure
About A$190-million.

Planned Start/End Date
The project was granted development consent in May 2024.

Latest Developments
The commission has imposed conditions to set operational limits on the development, including that hydrogen must be produced using renewable electricity only. 

Dubbo must prepare an air-quality monitoring plan to verify the emissions performance of the development, and is required to comply with NSW Environment Protection Agency regulations pertaining to air pollutants.
