Enaex Africa Secunda Complex, in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Davey Bickford subsidiary Enaex Africa, previously Sasol Explosives.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a local assembly facility for the production of 800 000 detonators a year.

Consequently, customers will have security of supply of Enaex’s electronic detonators, assembled locally.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to positively contribute to the Secunda economy by creating more jobs in the local community.

Capital Expenditure
Enaex has approved R16-million for the development of the assembly plant.

Planned Start/End Date
The project is expected to start operating in the next 24 to 28 months.

Latest Developments
Enaex Africa completed the expansion project in March 2022.

The project took less than 12 months to complete, well within the project timelines and budget. 

The plant's capacity has increased by about 20%, which will help the company reach its goals of achieving product growth and meeting the growing demand for bulk explosives products. Its storage capacity has also increased by 50%.
