Diversified natural resources group Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) has elected Shukhrat Ibragimov as chairperson.

This comes as the group makes changes to the composition of its board of directors, which are aimed at further developing and strengthening the company in response to global challenges and fast-changing market conditions.

To this end, Sabir Chodiev is succeeding Dr Patokh Chodiev, while Eduard Surlevich is succeeding Dr Alexander Machkevitch on the board.

Representatives of the Kazakhstan government – Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin and Finance Minister Madi Takiyev – however, continue in their roles as members of the board.

“The contribution of the group’s founding shareholders, Machkevitch and Dr Patokh Chodiev, as well as Alijan Ibragimov, to the work of ERG’s board, cannot be overstated,” the company expresses in a July 17 media release.

The company says the newly appointed managers, who have long been involved in the company’s operations and have extensive experience in the industry, will continue to work in cooperation with the group’s shareholders towards achieving ERG’s strategic goals and objectives.

ERG says their expertise and dedication to the company’s values will ensure its course remains consistent and stable as part of the natural evolution of the group.

“Our mission remains unchanged: To be the best at what we do and drive global change, whilst holding true to our values, helping unlock the potential of the earth and its people and ensure the prosperity of those who rely on us.

“We would like to express our gratitude to all our employees, partners and customers for their trust and support. Together we continue to combine tradition with innovation in our efforts towards achieving new milestones,” says ERG.

Shukhrat Ibragimov has been a member of ERG’s board since 2021, with ten years of experience with ERG Group.

Additionally, Sabir Chodiev has been working for various companies within the ERG Group since 2008. Sabir Chodiev was adviser to the chairperson of the supervisory board of ERG and deputy head for risk management.

Since 2021, he has been deputy CEO of the group and first deputy general director of ERG in Kazakhstan. Sabir Chodiev is also currently a member of ERG group’s board of directors.

Meanwhile, Surlevich has been deputy CEO of the group since early 2023. In this role, he assumed key responsibilities for the development of sales and marketing, building new partnerships with trading companies, as well as the development of the group's business in Africa.
