Diversified natural resources company Glencore CEO Gary Nagle met with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi and PM Judith Suminwa on December 10 to reinforce Glencore’s commitment to the country and its people, particularly the communities where Glencore’s DRC operations, Mutanda Mining (MUMI) and Kamoto Copper Company (KCC), operate.

Glencore has been present in the DRC since 2007 and employs more than 17 000 employees and contractors. For 2023, through its KCC and MUMI operations, Glencore paid $923-million in taxes, royalties and other obligations to the DRC government.

To date, Glencore has invested over $8-billion in the DRC and contributed more than $100-million in social development through its Cahier des Charges and corporate social investment projects.

The visit was an opportunity to reinforce Glencore’s commitment to the country and its people, particularly the communities where its MUMI and KCC operations are located.

Nagle was accompanied by head of Glencore corporate affairs Anne Edwards, president of Glencore DRC Marie-Chantal Kaninda and CEO of Glencore Copper Africa Mark Davis.
