HOLISTIC APPROACH

14th June 2019

Font size: - +

Government has given an assurance that South Arica’s carbon tax, implemented on June 1, has been designed not to raise revenue but to change the behaviour of plants such as AfriSam’s Dudfield factory, in the North West Province (pictured). The tax is being implemented at a time when the construction industry remains in the doldrums and cement producers are under sustained financial pressures. Therefore, AfriSam cementitious executive Hannes Meyer believes government needs to take a more holistic approach to improving emissions performance of domestic industry.
