How one of the World's Largest Silicon Metal Producers Revolutionised Supplier Management
This article has been supplied.
As South America's largest and a global leading producer of silicon metal, Liasa, stands out not only for its technological innovation but also for its commitment to sustainable practices.
In 2022, the company invested approximately R$50 million in process improvement and innovation projects. In 2023, LIASA took a significant step forward by modernising its equipment and furnaces and investing in solar photovoltaic energy, solidifying its position as a pioneer in the large-scale use of clean and renewable energy in the sector.
This commitment to sustainability brought to light a new challenge for LIASA: improving supplier management to ensure that its procurement practices were aligned with the principles of ethics, transparency, and sustainability.
As a result, the company sought to enhance its supplier value chain, minimise risks, and ensure that its business partners adhere to high ethical and environmental standards, effectively integrating its ESG agenda into its supplier management practices.
As a company exporting to over 60 countries, LIASA also faced challenges in managing supplier documentation that impacted its process efficiency. Additional problems arose due to the lack of standardisation and proper validation of documents, leading to incomplete forms and increasing the risk of errors and delayed manual validation. Traceability and document control were also hindered, impairing operational transparency. To address these challenges and enhance supplier management, LIASA turned to SoftExpert's ESG and Supplier Lifecycle Management software solutions.
