Industrial air filtration provider Brasco Industrial Filtration has emerged as a powerhouse in the realm of dust control solutions, showcasing its remarkable capabilities through a recent collaboration with a fast-growing cement producer and supplier on the West Rand. This esteemed company, catering to a diverse clientele from civil engineering to construction, sought out Brasco Filtration for its expertise in providing and installing replacement silo vent filter units. The incumbent imported vent units had proven to be inefficient and costly to maintain, with spare parts often difficult to procure.

Recognising the pressing need for a reliable solution, Brasco Filtration rose to the challenge. It expertly designed, manufactured and installed state-of-the-art reverse pulse bag filter units for each of the three silos, which are fed by road tankers. The primary function of these advanced vent filters is to effectively expel the displaced air generated by the road tankers’ on-board blowers while ensuring that the cement product remains securely contained within the silos.

To accommodate the newly supplied, larger vent filter units, Brasco crafted specially designed adapter transitions and side mount upstand housings, ensuring seamless integration into the existing infrastructure. Each vent filter unit was equipped with integral 3 kW fans, which not only facilitated the removal of displaced air but also created a slight negative pressure within the silo. This innovative design effectively contained dust, enhancing the overall efficiency of the system.

The Brasco vent filter units commissioned for this project feature 20 m² of PTFE laminated polyester filter media, specifically engineered for challenging dust types such as cement, clinker and fly ash. This proven filter media excels under higher dust loads, ensuring optimal dust cake release and maintaining air quality. Brasco's meticulous selection process considered the lower air-to-media ratios to prevent clogging of the filter bags, significantly extending their lifespan. This, in turn, translates to longer intervals between replacements and servicing, offering substantial financial benefits to the client.

The successful execution of this project, delivered on time and within budget, is a testament to Brasco's in-house design team's expertise and the collaborative efforts of its drawing and project office. This remarkable achievement not only underscores Brasco Industrial Filtration's commitment to quality and innovation but also solidifies its reputation as a leading supplier of dust control solutions in the industry. Its ability to meet complex challenges with tailored solutions ensures that it remains a trusted partner for clients seeking effective, sustainable filtration systems.
