State-owned telecommunications group Broadband Infraco has appointed Gift Zowa as acting CEO, effective November 16, following the end of term of Andrew Matseke.

Zowa, a seasoned executive who holds a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MBA from the University of Pretoria, is a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Electrical Engineers (UK) and is registered as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Proficient in telecommunications, information technology, strategic management and business management, he was, over a ten-year period, Broadband Infraco’s chief technical officer.

Zowa started his career at Siemens Telecommunications before becoming the head of telecommunications at State-owned Sentech, designing and running the MyWireless data communication product. He has also worked for Nokia Siemens Networks as the head of mobile broadband for Africa and the Middle East.

“We congratulate Mr Zowa on his appointment and wish him success as he leads the Company into new frontiers,” says Broadband Infraco chairperson Zandile Kabini.
