Innocentia Mahlangu honored on PMI's Future 50 list

Innocentia Mahlangu, a senior engineer and project manager based in Hatch’s Johannesburg, South Africa office, has been honored on Project Management Institute’s (PMI) 2021 Future 50 list, which recognizes 50 rising leaders that are creating, building, and transforming the world through notable projects. To identify this year’s honorees, PMI reached out to hundreds of experts and stakeholders across the globe for nominations. After a committee vetted the nominees, finalists were individually researched and/or interviewed. The selected honorees were chosen to represent the full spectrum of regions, industries, and achievements.
Innocentia, who received her MSc Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2018, and her BSc in 2011, has extensive experience in the design and execution of rail infrastructure projects, including both project and construction management roles.
Innocentia is passionate about leaving a positive legacy through her work—whether that be by focusing on long-term sustainability and community impacts through her project work or by serving as a role model to young girls, and encouraging more women to enter the field of engineering.
"The construction industry struggles to attract and retain women, and I’m hoping to be the change I wish to see. I am fortunate being part of an organization that’s dedicated to growing young engineers and understands diversity and inclusion. I had a mentor from the first day I started working, and that has made an incredible difference."
