Innovative equipment and solutions on show
Minerals processing group Multotec had a range of products on display at the recently held Electra Mining Africa exhibition. The company highlights its pulping chute as a potential “game changer” in secondary scrubbing applications and the product won the exhibition’s award for International Manufacturing Innovation: New Product (Mining).
As a stationary piece of equipment, the pulping chute is designed to save energy and can accommodate higher throughput, helping to raise efficiencies while reducing the environmental impact.
Another Multotec product designed to improve efficiencies is its self-adjusting Mato belt cleaners, which are said to be easy to maintain and prevent the carry back of fines, which helps to remove wastage from the process.
“Another exciting offering on show was our real time automated metallurgical accounting (RAMA) system,” says Multotec Process Equipment MD Bheka Majola. “Designed to feed correct samples to online analysers and process control samplers, this leverages our expertise in collecting unbiased samples.”
By presenting more accurate samples to an online analyser, plant managers and operators can have more confidence in their results. This translates directly into better management of their process, and improved results, he says.
The company also displayed its new large diameter cleaner spiral which is designed to give more throughput, with the potential to more than double production from 2.3 t/h to about 5 t/h.
Multotec also highlighted its UX7 ultra fines spiral, which is said to enable significant improvements in the recovery of fine material in the range of 38 micron to 75 micron.
“We have tested the UX7 extensively in the chrome industry, but it will perform in a range of other commodities too,” says Majola. “It presents exciting opportunities for our customers to recover considerably more mineral content from the traditionally difficult to recover fines.”
Additional products on display included Multotec Rubber’s 4-in-1 integrated liner that it says far outperforms the steel grate plate, Multotec Manufacturing’s flame-resistant screen panels, and a range of in-house pumps.
