Italian company enters South African market
COMPETITIVE INDUSTRY Reducing noise, easy to maintain and cheaper systems manufactured for the mining industry
For the first time ever, Italian pumps manufacturer Robuschi, represented in South Africa by Letaba Pumps, displayed a Robox blower unit at Electra Mining Africa 2016 earlier this month.
Letaba division Brubin Pumps GM Hannes Liebenberg commented that this followed the high level of interest the unit received at IFAT, a leading trade fair in water, sewage, waste and raw materials management in Italy earlier this year.
He emphasised that, owing to the positive feedback the unit had attracted globally, the Robuschi Robox units were a prominent feature at Electra Mining, highlighting that it was designed for optimum wastewater and water treatment applications.
The Robox unit employs a simple blower technology, which is highly effective in reducing noise, as it is in an enclosed unit. It is also clean and easy to maintain, with cheaper system costs.
Liebenberg explained that the design optimised space, and the unit could also be placed outside. The company supplied the units with or without enclosures, depending on the application.
“Locally, there has been good uptake of this product. The moment people witness how the init operates, they become interested,” he said.
Liebenberg added that buyers of the unit soon become loyal clients, such as materials and solutions provider PPC, South African water utility Rand Water, and engineering company SAME, all of which used these units and were satisfied with their impressive results.
Further, he pointed out that, according to clients, the Robox unit was effective in performing operations at reduced noise levels in the field of low-pressure compression.
“It has a low noise rating of only 6 dB(a), which is lower than the rating of previous series. The unit is also designed for installation of the new electronic monitoring system, Sentinel, which provides effective safeguards for the entire blower package,” Liebenberg said.
He concluded that the product sells itself mostly through necessity, and has a reputation of being highly effective.
