Seriti Green hands Vunumoya Main Transmission Station over to Eskom

Renewable-energy developer Seriti Green in November last year officially handed over the Vunumoya Main Transmission Station, or MTS, to State-owned power utility Eskom. Tasneem Bulbulia elaborates.

The MTS connects Seriti Green’s Ummbila Emoyeni Wind Farm, currently being progressed in Mpumalanga, to Eskom’s transmission network. Seriti Green CEO Peter Venn provides insight into the MTS, and its benefits for the local community.

The handover enables the first 155 MW of wind energy from the Emoyeni project to be fed into the system ahead of schedule, the start of a 900 MW programme that will progressively add further renewables capacity. Venn explains how this is progressing.
