Leveraging its decades of experience in demanding heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, Booyco Engineering has transitioned from bespoke solutions to a range of standard solutions for the mining sector. These new designs promise shorter lead times and enhanced cost effectiveness, marking a significant growth in the company’s mining reference base.

Booyco Engineering will showcase its cab HVAC systems for mobile mining equipment, along with auxiliary power units (APU) and specialised dust filtration systems at Electra Mining Africa.

The standardised units, designed specifically for mining equipment, can be quickly supplied to customers, ensuring cost competitiveness without compromising quality. This shift meets the mining industry’s demand for increased equipment availability, aiming for higher uptime and productivity. Frequent unscheduled HVAC system maintenance can halt operations, leading to costly downtime, which Booyco Engineering’s durable designs aim to minimise.

The company is committed to safety and best practices, with a focus on compliance with the ISO 23875 standard on air quality and driver health. This compliance ensures Booyco HVAC units meet the highest global standards, providing peace of mind to mining operations.

A significant innovation to be launched at Electra Mining Africa is Booyco’s APU. The APU is designed to reduce diesel consumption while large mobile machinery like trucks, drill rigs and dozers are idling. This unit powers the in-cab air conditioner without relying on the main engine, allowing it to be powered down during waiting periods. This results in significant diesel cost savings and a reduced carbon footprint, crucial for mines’ strategic sustainability goals.

Booyco Engineering will also demonstrate the globally successful Sy-Klone technology for cab filtration and air precleaning systems, which boost engine performance, reliability and lifespan.

These innovations underscore Booyco Engineering’s commitment to enhancing safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness in mining operations.
