CSE-listed KWG Resources, operating as Canada Chrome Corporation, has granted its consent for the initiation of a geotechnical programme in support of the Northern Road Link environmental impact study (EIS).

The Northern Road Link and accompanying electrification systems will connect several First Nations communities to the Ontario power grid and national transportation systems.

The proposed road will serve as a multi-use, all-season route linking the Marten Falls Community Access Road and the Webequie Supply Road, opening up crucial access to the Ring of Fire, a rich mineral district known for its chromite, nickel, and other strategic minerals.

The road will also facilitate the development of associated electrification systems that will improve energy access for local communities in the James Bay Lowlands.

Under a memorandum of agreement between Canada Chrome and AtkinsRéalis Canada, KWG has granted temporary access to certain mineral exploration claims held along the proposed utility corridor, which will connect KWG’s Black Horse chromite discovery to regional transportation and power infrastructure.

This geotechnical work is expected to last up to one year and will provide valuable insights into the environmental and technical conditions along the proposed route. The results will not only support the ongoing EIS but will also help inform future planning for the Northern Road Link, a project seen as essential for unlocking the economic potential of the Ring of Fire.
