Latest range improves belt joining processes
ROBUST CONVEYOR REINFORCEMENT The Super-Screw standard- and high-abrasion product ranges allow for efficient conveyor belt joining and repair
MINE CONVEYOR REJUVENATION No environment or conveyor belt positioning is too extreme for the installation of the Super-Screw
Through many years of development and refinement, France-headquartered conveyor component solutions developer MLT Group South Africa showcased its new range of Super-Screw conveyor belt splicing products at the Electra Mining Africa exhibition, held in Johannesburg, last month.
First created in 1994, the Super-Screw method and products offer new ways of joining belt sections, advancing traditional methods, such as cold and hot splicing practices, where vulcanising presses take too long to either heat up or cool down.
The upgraded Super-Screw 2024 range for conveyor belt joining is equipped with an increased rubber thickness, a wear indicator, a stronger carcass and longer-lasting joints, owing to the deepened recessing screws on the carcass.
The Super-Screw can be used to repair conveyor belts, with quick and easy installation processes, consequently reducing clients’ waiting time for specialists to splice and repair belting.
“Our clients require quicker, easier-to-install splicing solutions, especially in breakdown instances, and this is literally what our Super-Screw was originally developed for,” says MLT Group South Africa MD Rudy Snyman.
MLT Group appointed mining splicing and belt product manufacturer Belt Brokers as the official distributor of the Super-Screw products to mining operations in May. One of the company’s most noteworthy successes is converting a mine’s hot splicing products to the Super-Screw solution.
When implementing its Super-Screw products, MLT Group considers the conveyor belt specifications and the client specifications to ensure that the best solution is offered for the actual application, explains Snyman. This enables MLT Group to identify the ideal product for a client’s facility.
Product Variants
The Super-Screw is available in two product variants for light and heavy applications, both of which are equipped with an early warning system to inform conveyor operators of repairs or joints replacements.
The standard-abrasion range, with an abrasion index of 150 mm3, is an entry-level product that is suited to lighter applications, while the high-abrasion range (50 mm3) allows for joining or repairing conveyor belts with efficiency, ease and robustness in heavy applications.
In addition to the Super-Screw products, the company emphasises providing conveyor products and components that work in tandem with one another in a conveyor belt system, including components such as fasteners, vulcanising presses, technical belting, splicing tools and conveyor equipment.
“All these new attributes make our new 2024 range of Super-Screw products the strongest and best long-term, permanent and flexible joining system in the market,” enthuses Snyman.
MLT Group is running a special trial offer on the 2024 Super-Screw range, whereby the products are available at a reduced price, clients can acquire installation and can request training from the company’s experts.
The Super-Screw range is an original registered trademark product created exclusively by the MLT Group as a solution for conveyor belt joining, maintenance and repair.
