Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson concluded his visit to China this week by signing two declarations of intent with the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), as well as ASI Global.

Macpherson travelled to China as part of an official State visit by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) says the declaration of intent with the CCCC invites the company to bid through the Public Management Finance Act for the construction of municipal works and buildings, the construction and development of public-owned buildings and the development of fishing harbours and small ports.

Meanwhile, the declaration with ASI Global will work towards this entity helping to develop construction and professional talent in South Africa.

“CCCC and ASI Global are two very important players in their respective fields, and the declarations of intents means that we can now invite them to make their expertise available to help develop our infrastructure and construction capabilities in South Africa,” says Macpherson.

He adds that the DPWI will, in the months ahead, work with these companies to develop agreements in unblocking any challenges which may hinder them to launch construction projects in South Africa.
