Merafe offers revised approach to disaggregation of group revenue by region
JSE-listed Merafe Resources has revised its regional revenue disclosure format for ferrochrome and chrome ore following an engagement with the JSE regarding the proactive monitoring review process.
The company stated on March 31 that the change is aimed at enhancing the breakdown of revenue from the Asia region.
Ferrochrome revenue in 2024 was just under R6-billion, with Africa accounting for R212.62-million, or 4%, of the total; the Americas R561.35-million, or 9%, of the total; and Europe R1.12-billion, or 19%, of the total.
Asia contributed R4.01-billion, accounting for 68% of the total. China contributed revenue of R2.53-billion, Indonesia R956.08-million and other Asian regions R533.28-million.
In 2023, Asia contributed about R5.09-billion, or 74%, of Merafe’s total ferrochrome revenue of R6.89-billion for the year. Africa generated R207.44-million, or 3%, of the total; the Americas R362.39-million, or 5%, of the total; and Europe R1.22-billion, or 18%, of the total.
Meanwhile, Merafe’s chrome ore revenue for 2024 was R2.26-billion, compared with R2.22-billion in 2023.
For 2024, Africa accounted for R507.97-million, or 2%, of the total; Asia for R1.63-billion, or 72%, of the total; the Americas R19.69-million, or 1%, of the total; and Europe R600.02-million, or 26%, of the total.
In 2023, Africa contributed R42.84-million, or 2%, of the total chrome ore revenue; Asia R1.63-billion, or 73%, of the total; the Americas R23.46-million, or 1%, of the total; and Europe R484.82-million, or 22%, of the total.
The revenue breakdown reflects Merafe’s approach to refining its reporting structure to provide more detailed insights into the company’s revenue distribution across various regions.
