Minimising dust improves operations
The use of effective dust suppressants can provide significant benefits and enhance operational efficiencies for industries operating in dusty environments.
CHRYSO Southern Africa offers a range of dust suppressant solutions that are particularly suited for use in the mining and quarrying sectors.
The company’s BU development manager: concrete aesthetics and key accounts Michelle Fick says the range offers a comprehensive approach to sealing and maintaining dirt roads, gravel pathways, and other dusty surfaces.
She explains that CHRYSO Eco Dust provides long-lasting effects, ensuring that roads and surfaces remain dust-free for extended periods. Reducing the frequency of reapplication helps to streamline operations and saves time and costs by minimising disruptions to daily activities.
“Compared to alternatives such as paving or tarred roads, implementing the CHRYSO Eco Dust solution leads to significant cost savings… [by] reducing maintenance expenses while achieving optimal dust control,” Fick says.
The product is also designed to be environmentally sustainable, with low volatile organic compound, or VOC, emissions and high ultra-violet resistance. This is especially important to ensure compliance in industries subject to strict health, safety and environmental regulations.
CHRYSO Eco Dust has proved especially popular in mining and quarrying operations, which may be located in environmentally sensitive areas and may be required to minimise dust emissions to reduce the impact on surrounding communities.
The product is also said to reduce fuel and water consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, compared to traditional dust control methods such as water tanker spraying. CHRYSO Eco Dust also helps improve overall safety in dusty environments as less dust in the air improves visibility, which reduces the risk of accidents. Less dust on the roads also improves road grip and enhances traction for vehicles, further contributing to improved safety.
The company highlights that CHRYSO Eco Dust can be used in a range of applications, such as cement plants, precast yards, building sites, farms, game reserves, rural airfields, under-developed residential areas, sandy sports fields and any areas where dirt roads and dusty surfaces require sealing and maintenance.
