More Stage 6 loadshedding as breakdowns approach 19 000 MW
Stage 6 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Tuesday until 05:00 on Thursday, Eskom said in a statement.
After that, stages will vary between 4 and 6 until late on Friday.
Breakdowns are currently at 18 972 MW of generating capacity, while 3 222 MW are out of service for planned maintenance.
"Over the past 24 hours a generation unit each at Camden and Tutuka power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns. The delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Camden, Duvha, Kendal, Kriel, Lethabo, Matimba, Matla and Tutuka power stations continues to add to the current capacity constraints.
"The team is working around the clock to ensure that generating units are returned to service as soon as possible," Eskom said.
