An inkjet desktop printer that features large, individual ink tanks and a reusable thermal inkjet printhead has been introduced by DTM Print as an addition to the LX-series of printers.

Manufactured by Primera Technology, the LX4000e colour label printer is equipped with the same print engine that is used in previous LX-series models including the LX910e and LX3000e printer. Print quality is enhanced with native 1 200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution with a maximum print resolution of 1 200 dpi x 4 800 dpi. Labels up to 210 mm wide and 610 mm long can be printed. Print speed is up to 114 mm/second.

Each cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY) tank holds 60 ml of ink, and the pre-primed, reusable printheads contain another 42 ml of ink, giving a total of 222 ml of ink. Both dye and pigment models are available as separate units, and replacement ink tanks are self-priming and designed to be easy to install.

Compared to carbon black inks used in other colour label printers, process black offers advantages such as better water and chemicals resistance, greater compatibility with a wider variety of speciality label media, and enhanced resistance to smearing, which helps ensure that labels remain crisp and legible under various environmental conditions.

The printer also features Primera’s ClearView ink tank system, which allows users to monitor ink levels without needing to open the printer’s cover. The external, clear ink tank can be viewed to gauge when ink replenishment is required, enabling a faster and more convenient printing process that helps reduce downtime, improve productivity, and increase users’ control of printing operations.

Engineered for high-volume printing of up to 7 500 labels a day, the printer is said to also deliver cost efficiencies for users with lower printing demands. Its powder-coated steel cover and all-steel frame is built for protection in diverse settings such as offices, warehouses, and factories.

The LX4000e is compatible with Windows 10/11+ and the latest macOS operating systems. It features data interfaces including ethernet and USB 2.0 wired ports. Windows users can also access wireless connectivity using an ethernet to wireless adapter.

DTM Print says it also offers benefits such as free label design software for Windows and Mac, three years warranty, support and service, and a variety of approved label substrates under the brand ‘Genuine DTM Label Stock’.
