The project is expected to be located adjacent to Rio Tinto’s existing Yurralyi Maya Power Station, near Karratha, in Western Australia.

Project Description
The project entails the development of an 80 MW solar farm to supply renewable energy to Rio Tinto’s iron-ore operations in the Pilbara. 

This project has the potential to displace up to 11% of natural gas currently used for generation across Rio Tinto’s integrated mining operations in the Pilbara, consequently reducing Rio Tinto’s emissions by up to 120 000 t/y of CO2 equivalent once complete.
