Project Description
The Nordlicht wind cluster will have a net capacity of more than 1.6 GW. The project consists of two separate sites: Nordlicht 1, which will be Germany’s largest offshore wind farm when completed, with a capacity estimated at 980 MW; and Nordlicht 2, which will have a capacity of 630 MW.

Both wind farms will feature wind turbines towers partially manufactured from low-emission steel, reducing their overall carbon footprint by 16%.

Planned Start/End Date
The construction of Nordlicht 1 is scheduled to start in 2026. According to the current state of planning, the wind turbines for Nordlicht 1 are expected to be installed in 2027 and the wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2028.

The final investment decision for Nordlicht 2 has been made on a conditional basis, pending the receipt of the necessary permit.
