ASX-listed Perseus Mining has appointed Daniel Egya-Mensah as CEO of its Perseus Mining Ghana subsidiary, effective July 1. In this newly created role, he is tasked with providing strategic guidance to the operational leadership team and overseeing stakeholder engagement.

Egya-Mensah, who is currently GM of Perseus's Edikan gold mine, has over 25 years of experience in the mining industry. He has held senior leadership roles at Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti and Teberebie Goldfields.

"Under his leadership over the last two years, the Edikan mine has significantly improved its operational efficiency, enabling it to meet production, cost and safety targets in 2024 and remain on track for 2025," Perseus says.

In parallel, mining and technical services manager Alexander Kofi Oduro is being promoted as GM of the Edikan mine.

"With more than 17 years of experience in the mining sector in Ghana and internationally, Alexander brings a wealth of expertise, innovation and strategic vision to the next phase of Edikan’s growth and development. In his previous role, he was instrumental in delivering new benchmarks for efficiency and innovation through his strategic approach to mine planning and optimisation," Perseus comments.

Edikan mine operations superintendent Amatus Niminye will succeed Oduro as mining and technical services manager.

"Amatus is known for his operational leadership and innovation, having led greenfield developments and implemented pioneering blasting techniques that enhanced financing and sustainability metrics. His commitment to excellence will continue to guide his leadership as he embarks on this new strategic role," the company says.

It points out that the appointments reflect the group’s long-term commitment to nurturing internal talent and strengthening operational leadership across its mining assets.

It states that, by fostering internal talent, the group ensures continuity of leadership across its operations while remaining true to its core values. It also notes that 100% of the Edikan mine’s management team and workforce are Ghanaian nationals.

“The Perseus group has always believed that the foundation of our long-term success lies in the strength of its people. These key appointments in Ghana are a clear reflection of our deep commitment to developing talent from within and building a culture of leadership and excellence throughout our operations.

"I am proud to see this next generation of Ghanaian leaders step into strategic roles that will help shape the future of our business in Ghana. Their expertise and dedication will be critical as we embark on the next chapter of our growth. I would like to congratulate them and wish them every success,” says Perseus CEO and MD Jeff Quartermaine.

Perseus earlier this month announced its production guidance for the 2026 to 2030 financial years, with Edikan to produce between 720 000 oz and 750 000 oz of gold over the five-year period, accounting for about 28% of the group's overall production of between 2.6-million and 2.7-million ounces.
