At Electra Mining Africa 2024, pump distributor AxFlow AQS Liquid Transfer stands ready to showcase its latest innovations in liquid handling solutions. With a distinguished history spanning more than two decades, the company has cemented its position as a leader in the Southern African pump industry, catering to diverse sectors including mining, agriculture, industrial and utilities.

Electra Mining provides an invaluable platform for us to demonstrate our commitment to excellence and innovation,” remarks AxFlow AQS Liquid Transfer MD Leon Fourie.

“We are eager to showcase our latest technologies and solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers across various industries,” he says in a release to Mining Weekly.

Established in 2003, AQS Liquid Transfer has experienced steady growth. In 2016, AxFlow, a division of Axel Johnson Inter-national, acquired a majority stake in AQS. According to Fourie, the partnership with AxFlow, which is the biggest distributor of positive displacement pumps and related products in Europe, has significantly broadened the company’s product range and bolstered its service capabilities.

Fourie says AxFlow AQS prides itself on its diverse range of specialised pump solutions designed for specific industry applications. Its Vega range of peristaltic pumps enhances its selection of positive displacement pumps. The company’s portfolio includes diaphragm pumps that are renowned for their efficiency in handling of viscous, abrasive, and corrosive liquids. Its range boasts global brands, including Sandpiper, Versamatic, Vega Pump, QUANTM and ABEL Pumps.

AxFlow AQS also stocks various sizes and models of borehole pumps, catering for domestic, agricultural, mining and bulk water supply applications. He states that the company’s selection of borehole pumps is able to deliver up to 2 000 litres a minute and total dynamic heads of up to 457 m.

“The need for a range of centrifugal pumps has been addressed by carefully selecting different sizes, materials of construction and configurations that enable a pump to match site conditions,” explains Fourie.

In the mining sector, maintaining operational efficiency in challenging environments necessitates the use of heavy-duty end suction centrifugal slurry pumps, vertical spindle pumps and submersible pumps. These pumps are essential for ensuring the smooth and effective handling of abrasive and corrosive materials.

“From lightweight portable pumps to heavy-duty fixed installations, we can address various applications from dirty water to mining slurries with a specific gravity of up to 2.4,” says Fourie.

In addition, AxFlow AQS’ range of air- operated double diaphragm pumps offers versatile and reliable performance for mining applications. These pumps are capable of handling abrasive slurries and solids with ease, while providing excellent chemical resistance and self-priming capabilities.

AxFlow AQS offers a variety of solutions for the industrial sector, covering all types of pumping disciplines including centrifugal and positive displacement designs, including the newly launched electric operated double diaphragm pumps. Specifically designed for applications which cannot utilise compressed air.

Sustainability Commitment
Beyond innovation, AxFlow AQS places a strong emphasis on sustainability and customer service. The company champions environment-friendly practices through its range of solar pumps, contributing to reduced carbon emissions and enhanced energy efficiency. The initiative aligns with global efforts towards sustainability and underscores AxFlow AQS’ role as a responsible corporate entity within the industry.

“Our customer-centric approach is integral to our success,” Fourie emphasises.

"We strive to build lasting partnerships by delivering tailored solutions and comprehensive support throughout the lifecycle of our products. Our established technical facility further enhances our capability to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”

AxFlow AQS’ strategic outlook is underpinned by its commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. By staying at the forefront of technological advancements and maintaining rigorous standards, AxFlow AQS is well-positioned to navigate future industry challenges and expand its market reach.

“We are excited about the future prospects and opportunities ahead,” concludes Fourie. “Our goal is to continue driving excellence in liquid handling solutions, ensuring that we meet and exceed the expectations of our clients across Southern Africa.”
