ASX- and TSX-V-listed explorer Resouro Strategic Metals has announced the appointment of Alistair Stephens as its new CEO, effective November 1.

With a background in the mining industry spanning 35 years, Stephens brings extensive experience to the role. He began his career working in mining operations in Western Australia with companies such as Newmont, KCGM, WMC Resources, and Orica.

In the past two decades, Stephens has honed a unique skill set in the specialty and critical metals sector, particularly focusing on rare earth elements (REE) and rare metals. His leadership as MD and CEO has been key in advancing feasibility studies for several projects, including the Nolans rare earths project in central Australia, the Kanyika niobium project in Malawi, and the Kangankunde rare earths project, also in Malawi.

Stephens has successfully defined a significant global inventory of major rare earth resource deposits and has led various metallurgical testwork programmes, flowsheet development, and engineering designs.

Resouro says his expertise will be crucial in advancing its Tiros titanium-rare earths project in Brazil.
