Rome Resources confirms wide intercepts of tin, copper at Mont Agoma
Aim-listed tin exploration company Rome Resources has confirmed significant widths of tin mineralisation from the first two of five completed diamond core drill holes on the Mont Agoma tin prospect, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Assays from the first two of five completed drill holes confirm tin, copper and zinc mineralisation widths of 38.4 m and 32.1 m, respectively.
Within one of the holes, Rome found higher tin grades and visible cassiterite within the deeper intersection of the hole, which supports the company’s zonation model in which tin mineralisation increases at depths closer to the granitic source.
The company will, therefore, concentrate the remainder of the drilling programme on evaluating how the mineralisation develops 100 m below current intercepts.
So far, Rome has completed 1 657 m of drilling from eight holes at Mont Agoma, with drilling at three holes ongoing.
Notable intersections from the two assays received include 3 m of tin grading 0.27% from 46 m, 20 m of tin grading 0.18% from 57 m and 15 m of tin grading 0.45% from 99 m.
Some of the copper intersections include 3.9 m of copper grading 1.24% from 71 m, 1.7 m of copper grading 4.8% from 95 m and 7.2 m of copper grading 1.32% from 212 m.
Notable zinc intersections include 31 m of zinc grading 4.02% from 92 m and 25 m of zinc grading almost 14% from 110 m.
These early indications suggest that mineralisation at Mont Agoma aligns with the copper to tin mineralisation transition zone at the San Rafael project, in Peru, Rome states.
The northernmost drill hole, which has not yet been assayed, suggests more than 100 m of visible copper mineralisation from preliminary estimations.
Rome remains funded to see deeper drilling through to the end of the year, at both the Mont Agoma and Kalayi prospects in the country.
CEO Paul Barrett comments that, with more than 200 m width of confirmed sulphide mineralisation so far at Mont Agoma, it is becoming increasingly clear that the company is unlocking a complex mineralised system with an increase in widths of mineralisation towards the base of the copper zone.
“The latest results from the two holes significantly increase our confidence in finding high-grade tin mineralisation as new drilling moves to deeper levels,” he concludes.
