Seifsa to go on roadshow in Nov to hear from industry members
Industry employer organisation the Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa) will undertake a roadshow in November to hear about members’ concerns and expectations and share how the organisation is working to ensure the metals and engineering sector has a strong voice at the table, says Seifsa marketing, sales and communication executive Nuraan Alli.
Some of the topics that will be touched on include collective bargaining, South Africa’s economic outlook for 2026, the importance of investing in human capital, labour market reform and what lies ahead for Seifsa as it reinvents itself, he says.
The meeting for the Johannesburg region will take place on November 21 at the Birchwood Hotel. The Cape Town region's meeting will be held on November 25 at Atlantis Foundries.
The meeting for the Port Elizabeth region will be held on November 26 at Weir Minerals, and the meeting for KwaZulu-Natal on November 27 at Defy.
Each meeting will have a question-and-answer session during which the audience can engage directly with the speakers.
Seifsa CEO Lucio Trentini will open each roadshow with a big picture view of the collective bargaining landscape going into 2026 and Seifsa CEO-designate Tafadzwa Chibanguza will provide insight into the economic outlook and climate.
Additionally, Seifsa human capital and skills development executive Zizile Nyawo, Seifsa industrial relations executive Vuyiswa Mokwana and Seifsa finance executive Mariaan de Jager will provide input during the meetings.
The roadshow takes place as South Africa prepares for the 2026 local government elections, and businesses continue to face electricity shortages, water challenges and ever-rising costs. Globally, tariffs are reshaping trade while conflicts in the Middle East and Europe add to uncertainty.
This will be Seifsa’s first roadshow since 2014.
