A new South African-developed human resources management software aims to provide companies with a flexible and scalable tool to develop and manage staff, says Piilo Software CEO Phil Lötter.

Piilo software was designed to be deployed on computers and mobile devices as a cloud-based program to provide small and large businesses with effective tools to manage mobile, fixed and temporary staff.

Piilo, currently in its first release, with the second release scheduled for July, is offering a 30-day free trial and notes that any size com- pany, from a two-person operation to government departments with thousands of employees, has a choice of eight current modules to suit its needs.

The company is planning to develop about 30 modules in total, with translations into ten languages to cater for a global market. Developing countries, especially in Africa, are significant markets for software as a service.

“Small companies can select specific modules with pay-as-you-go options to maintain tight control over their cash flow, while large companies and government organisations can choose monthly or annual subscription fees at discounted rates to manage the full scope of their employee life cycles,” he says.

Piilo gives companies a view of employee leave behaviour and performance and development requirements. Companies can use the software to implement their employee talent management strategies immediately, Lötter adds.

Piilo is developed specifically for business owners, line managers and employees, with the underlying human resources processes visible to users to ensure everyone understands the processes and responsibilities. Companies can start with one or two modules and grow their use of the software as their organisations’ requirements change over time.

The software is based on global software giant Microsoft Windows’ Azure platform, which provides Piilo with a global infrastructure footprint for worldwide deployment by means of the Internet. Companies only require a computer, Internet connection and an email address to use Piilo software worldwide.
