Stellantis South Africa appoints Whitfield to managing team
Automotive company Stellantis South Africa has announced three new members to its executive committee, including Mike Whitfield as MD.
Whitfield was formerly group adviser for strategy, policy and external affairs, as well as MD of Nissan Africa.
Stellantis announced last week it will invest R3-billion to develop its first vehicle manufacturing facility in South Africa at the Coega special economic zone.
The other two appointments are Pravin Harinarayan as sales director and Hassan Salie as after sales director.
Harinarayan was formerly the head of sales for MAN Truck and Bus South Africa, while Salie previously served as head of sales and network development at Audi Africa.
Stellantis has bid its former MD Leslie Ramsoomar farewell, after he helped set up the operation after merger.
The company says South Africa is an important market for Stellantis Middle East & Africa, and is set to play an integral role in the execution of the group’s Dare Forward 2030 Strategy – which involves reaching more than 22% market share in the region by 2030.
“We believe in South Africa and we intend to develop industrial and commercial operations of value,” Stellantis South Africa states.
Stellantis owns and sells the Fiat, Fiat Professional, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot and MOPAR brands.
