The fabrication and pre-erection of a front-end module for a diamond plant, in Zimbabwe has been completed by Tenova Bateman Technologies modular plants, formally known as Bateman modular plants.

The company has started erection of the facility on site at the diamond plant.

The existing plant, with a capacity of 200 t/h, will be integrated with the new front-end module to increase the ore-processing capacity to 400 t/h.

Scrubber Section

The new 200 t/h scrubber section, with a degrit module, will match the existing 200 t/h scrubber and screening section. The front end also includes the in-plant conveyors, modifications to the existing conveyors and bins to facilitate the movement of the ore to and from both scrubber sections.

This is the second stage of the contract, which involves the integration of a new front-end module into the existing plant.

The erection of the 400 t/h front-end module was completed at the end of June, along with its integration into the existing 200 t/h plant. On-site activities will further include upgrading the current electrical system and repositioning the existing degrit plant to the new front end.

Commissioning is expected to start in early July, once all the erection and integration activities have been completed.

The first stage of the contract was signed in July 2012 and the second stage was signed in August 2012. Both contracts have been completed within budget and on time.

Engineering Study

The first stage of the contract focused on the engineering study, detail design and procurement of long lead-time equipment, with the second stage focusing on the procurement of the balance of equipment, fabrication, pre-erection and commissioning of the new module.

Tenova Bateman Technologies arranged the transportation of the plant from South Africa to Zimbabwe at the client’s request.
