Project Description
The project will be one of the largest battery storage projects in Latin America and entails the construction of a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
The BESS will help to optimise renewable-energy management.
The 200 MW/1GWh-capacity battery will deliver 200 MW of energy for up to five hours.
This will allow for the PV energy produced at Malgarida to be stored, managed and deployed across different periods, ensuring that the clean energy generated by the plant during the day can also be dispatched at night.
This will help reduce the complex’s reliance on fossil fuels and cut the associated CO2 emissions.
