Name of the Project
Swedish Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm.

Location
About 30 km south of Trelleborg, in Sweden. The wind farm area borders the already existing  offshore wind farms on the Danish and German sides of the Kriegers Flak reef.

Project Owner/s
Vattenfall.

Project Description
Swedish Kriegers Flak is Sweden’s most mature offshore wind project.

The wind farm is estimated to generate 2.7 TWh/y of fossil-free electricity, equivalent to the yearly consumption of about 500 000 households or the charging of about one-million electric cars.

Potential Job Creation
Not stated.

Capital Expenditure
Not confirmed.

Planned Start/End Date
Production was planned to start in 2028, but on September 2, 2024, Vattenfall said this was no longer possible.

Latest Developments
Vattenfall has decided to pause the development of Kriegers Flak until further notice, owing to unviable investment prerequisites in Sweden.

Should the investment prerequisites improve, and the permits are still valid, the project can continue. Vattenfall has previously communicated that one of the main prerequisites for investing in the project was a reasonable connection point to the national grid offshore.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
Siemens Gamesa (turbines).
