Energy equipment and solutions provider CHINT Global will showcase its latest advancements in smart energy solutions at this year’s Electra Mining Africa conference.

On September 4, the company will launch new product ranges, including the CJX1-22K vacuum contactors, the NM8N high-voltage series moulded case circuit breaker and the NM8NDC range of direct current (dc) switchgear.

The CJX1-K series alternating current (ac) vacuum contactors are suitable for ac circuits of 50 Hz to 60 Hz, a rated working voltage of up to 1 000 V and a variety of currents from 225 A up to 820 A. The contactors boast a mechanical service life of up to seven-million operations.

The CJX1-K can be used in combination with appropriate thermal overload relays, electronic protectors and other protective devices to form a vacuum electromagnetic starter. It is especially suitable for forming an explosion-proof vacuum electromagnetic starter.

The contactors are widely used by mines, smelters, the chemicals industry, the construction sector, the textile industry, as well as for military, petroleum extraction and storage applications. It is suitable for use in flammable, explosive or harsh environments.

Additionally, the NM8N high-voltage series moulded case circuit breaker is specially designed for handling high-voltage electrical systems, capable of breaking heavily loaded electrical circuits within a wide operating temperature range of -40 ℃ to 80 ℃.

This circuit breaker is characterised by its ability to break circuits with zero arcing, making it an ideal component for various systems.

The product has an insulation voltage of 1 250 V and a rated operational voltage up to 1 150 V, and boasts a rating of 80 kA at 690 V maximum breaking current-rated capacity equal to service short-circuit breaking capacity (Icu=Ics) and at 1 150V 10 kA Icu=Ics, which makes it suitable for heavy industry applications.

Further, the NM8NDC range of dc switchgear, which CHINT describes as a “world-class product” for the photovoltaic industry, is developed to achieve breaking capacities of up to 100 kA at 1 000 Vdc, while also being able to achieve a minimum of 15 000 mechanical and 2 000 electrical operations.

Products are developed in China at the company’s research and development (R&D) centre in Shanghai, with test labs that boast International Organisation for Standardisation/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC/ISO) 17025 certification.

“CHINT has seen huge growth in product demand and our state-of-the-art R&D capabilities can achieve new development of products in unbeatable times. We believe users will learn to see CHINT Global for what it really is, a market leading switchgear designer and manufacturer, second to none in the international space,” says CHINT senior industry sales manager Dawie Reyneke.

Visitors to the CHINT booth will also have the opportunity to explore an array of innovative solutions designed to drive sustainability and efficiency in energy management.

Key highlights will include low-voltage solutions that are “revolutionising” energy distribution, ensuring safety, reliability and efficiency in homes, buildings and industries, as well as new energy solutions that are pioneering in renewable technologies, harnessing the power of solar and other clean energy sources to create a greener future.

Additionally, the company will showcase its transmission and distribution solutions, which include advanced transmission and distribution systems to enhance energy grid performance.

"Electra Mining Africa 2024 presents a remarkable opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the energy sector. Our smart energy solutions are designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers and contribute to a more sustainable future,” says CHINT Global regional sales director Burt Lei.

“We have evolved into a global integrated platform for research, development, manufacturing, and sales.

“We light up your life with boundless electric possibilities through power generation, energy storage, power transmission, transformation, distribution, sales and consumption, as well as a diverse range of products and segments. These possibilities are made achievable through our comprehensive processes and solutions,” adds Reyneke.

CHINT’s booth will operate under the theme ‘Empowering a boundless, sustainable future with smart energy’.
