The project is core to Uzbekistan's ambition to install 25 GW of renewables by 2030.
The greenfield development will involve the development of a 200 MW solar PV plant and a 500 MWh battery energy storage system – the largest in central Asia – that will serve to stabilise the Uzbek grid.
This project will be capable of powering 170 000 households.

ACWA announced the completion of the dry financial close for the project on July 1, 2024.
The financing documents were signed with six lenders: the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, DEG, Proparco, Standard Chartered and KfW-IPEX Bank.
Total debt from the signings amounts to $386-million, constituting more than two-thirds of the total cost of the project.
