Top tools for your winter arsenal
This article has been supplied.
With winter on its way, plenty of people will be prepping their places for wetter weather. Having the right set of tools is a must to get the job done efficiently – and safely. Let the DIY dreams live on!
Quality matters. Senior manager of Integrated Campaigns at Builders, Roshana Burnett says, “There’s that adage that ‘a bad workman blames their tools’… Well sometimes, they should! Having the right tools for the right job makes a massive difference. Quality is key, which is why we’ve just introduced the new Einhell range of first-rate, affordable power tools that work well for novices and experts alike.”
Here, Burnett suggests her top power tools to take on any DIY job winter may throw your way:
The most powerful tool? Professional advice.
Before you go out and buy anything, it is important to get in touch with an expert. Have a conversation about your plans to better understand what tools you need for the job. Each Builders store has several knowledgeable staff on hand who can help you make the best possible decision.
A cordless drill:
This one is the most obvious and most basic power tools to add to the arsenal. There are very few jobs around the house that don’t need one. It is also the tool you would be wise to invest the most money into as it will be used for most things, from putting up paintings to helping put together furniture.
A portable power tool kit:
This is perfect for beginners as the kit generally holds everything that a novice DIY specialist needs to get started. While different kits vary, good ones will have all the basics including a cordless drill, battery and chargers, storage box, hammer, and some pliers and tools to help deal with basic jobs around your home.
A circular saw:
If you are experienced and plan to do a lot of jobs that require cutting heavy wood, then a circular saw may be almost as important as cordless drills. Depending on the type, these are versatile and can be relatively easily transported. Practice heightened caution around them as misuse can lead to serious injury.
Safety equipment:
As with all DIY tools, safety is always paramount. Make sure you have a sturdy pair of gloves and goggles to minimise your risk of injury. Always use clamps to hold wood and make sure that your lighting is adequate. Never work when you are tired and clean up anything you may trip over – including cables.
