The project is Namibia’s first-ever World Bank-financed energy project. It will improve the reliability of the country’s transmission network and allow for the increased integration of renewable energy into its electricity system.

The project comprises the development of the second Auas-Kokerboom transmission line and the development of a utility-scale battery energy storage system facility.
