UN trade agency announces new name, vision
The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development has rebranded for the first time in 60 years since its establishment, revealing its new name – UN Trade and Development.
The rebrand underscores the organisation’s commitment to greater impact with a new, clearer visual identify aiming to better reflect its work and values.
The rebrand also marks a pivotal moment as the first ever comprehensive review of the organisation’s global communication footprint and bold forward-looking strategy.
Secretary-general Rebeca Grynspan said during the unveiling of the rebrand on April 9, in Geneva, that the organisation continues to build on its legacy, but with due regard to new complexities in the global economy.
“We will continue to work to ensure development is at the core of global economic decisions, and the voices of developing countries are heard,” she stated.
As its first event as a rebranded organisation, UN Trade and Development will host a Global Leaders Forum from June 12 to 14 in Geneva. Civil society organisations, private sector representatives and some of the world’s leading economists are expected to participate.
Themed 'Çharting a new development course in a changing world', the forum will emphasise the organisation’s integrated approach to trade and development, addressing finance, technology, investment and sustainable development – with a specific focus on the needs of developing countries.
