ASX-listed graphite producer and battery materials developer Volt Resources is actively engaging with Tanzania's Ministry of Minerals to finalise a shareholder agreement and framework agreement concerning the Bunyu graphite project.

This initiative marks a step forward as the company seeks to secure a foothold in Tanzania’s growing graphite industry.

The negotiations are part of a broader effort to establish a compliant supply chain under the US Inflation Reduction Act, aimed at bolstering the Bunyu project’s alignment with global standards for sustainable battery materials production.

Volt's Bunyu project is drawing interest, particularly after a large anode producer requested a bulk sample of 200 kg to 300 kg of graphite concentrate. This request followed successful testing on a smaller 1 kg sample, indicating the potential of the Bunyu graphite to meet industry needs.

Volt is now planning the next phase of project development, including further drilling and sample extraction.

Simultaneously, at the Zavalievsky graphite operations, in Ukraine, Volt has advanced its technological capabilities by acquiring a specialised chemical reactor. This reactor will be pivotal in optimising the bench-scale production of high-purity graphite, leveraging Volt’s proprietary technology.

However, the continuation of the Zavalievsky technical plan is dependent on securing the necessary funding.

In the US, Volt Energy Materials is pursuing additional funding to advance its operations.

After receiving positive feedback on a concept paper, Volt submitted two nondilutive funding proposals to the US government. While decisions were expected in August, the US Department of Energy has yet to announce its decisions, with Volt anticipating a delay of several weeks.

Volt is also in the final stages of securing additional financing, which will support ongoing discussions with potential customers interested in high-purity graphite or graphite anode samples.
