Water webinar to focus on strengthening supply infrastructure and services
Water security has become one of South Africa’s most pressing infrastructure and economic challenges. Aging municipal systems, rising demand and climate variability are increasingly affecting supply reliability and water quality. Creamer Media’s Water webinar on March 11 at 14:00 (register here) will focus on strengthening water supply infrastructure and services, bringing together industry specialists and policymakers to examine practical solutions and current developments in the sector.
The discussion will cover the status of projects aimed at upgrading treatment works, pump stations and reticulation networks to improve access, reliability and service delivery. A key focus will also be the national government’s intervention through the Water Services Amendment Act, which is expected to strengthen oversight and accountability within municipal water services.
Panelists will address the widespread issue of non-revenue water, where aging pipelines and infrastructure failures result in significant losses. Technology will also feature, particularly the growing role of smart water systems. Sensors, telemetry and IoT-enabled monitoring now allow operators to detect leaks early, apply predictive maintenance and manage demand more efficiently.
The webinar will also explore water reuse, recycling and conservation strategies, as well as emerging solutions such as desalination and advanced filtration.
