US-focused Western Uranium and Vanadium on Wednesday reported that it had acquired new mineral processing infrastructure, located about 40 km from its Sunday Mine complex in Colorado.

The company acquired the Mustang mineral processing site, formerly known as the Pinon Ridge mill site, in October last year. The acquisition includes historical data and equipment used in previous successful licensing applications. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued a licence for the facility twice, demonstrating its compliance with regulatory requirements.

The Mustang site includes critical infrastructure for long-term operations, such as nine monitoring wells and three production wells to support water management, existing power infrastructure, and road access. The 365-ha site has sufficient tailings capacity to support 40 years of continuous operations, and meteorological data towers are actively collecting environmental data.

"The acquisition and development of the Mustang mineral processing site is a transformative step for Western, reinforcing our commitment to strengthen the uranium and vanadium industry in the region to meet the growing demand for these critical minerals," said CEO George Glasier.

Western is also advancing its Maverick minerals processing site in Utah as a hub for kinetic separation, a process that upgrades lower-grade materials to economic levels before transportation to Mustang for processing. Located about four miles from Western’s San Rafael project, Maverick is expected to improve regional ore viability and strengthen the uranium and vanadium supply chain.
