Leading Southern African asset auctioneer WH Auctioneers is pleased to announce a timed online auction of four operational Liebherr ship-to-shore container gantry cranes, on behalf of Transnet National Ports Authority. The auction closes at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, and will offer ports and cargo handling operators a rare opportunity to acquire mid-life, rail-mounted gantry cranes — fully operational and refurbished — located at South Quay, Durban Harbour, in KwaZulu-Natal.

These cranes are part of Transnet’s ongoing focus on upgrading its port container handling fleet. Notably, Durban is already benefiting from newly delivered Liebherr ship-to-shore cranes to Pier 2 — a key infrastructure initiative in boosting terminal efficiency.

Registration to bid is now open on https://bit.ly/3HFLk7H

Auction Highlights:

  • 1x 2007 Liebherr container gantry crane and 3x 2002 Liebherr P167L-super container gantry cranes.
  • All operational and refurbished.
  • Fitted with rail gauge bogies, ideal for heavy container handling.
  • Located at South Quay, Durban Harbour, and available for inspection by appointment only.

Auction Format:

  • This is a timed online auction (no webcast/live bidding) on whauctions.com
  • Viewing is available by appointment only — contact Dillon at 082 860 1358 or Kim at 082 460 5989 or schedule with kimr@wh.co.za
  • R100 000 refundable registration deposit required
  • Buyer’s commission is 3.5% (excl. VAT)
  • Interested parties can view specs and bid online at the official auction portal https://bit.ly/3HFLk7H

WH Auctioneers invites genuine port operators, terminal stevedores, logistics groups and material handling businesses to explore this strategic acquisition opportunity.
