Zimbabwe Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Professor Mthuli Ncube and Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency CEO Tafadzwa Chinamo will host an investment summit at the Radisson Hotel, in Kempton Park, near OR Tambo International Airport on May 2 and 3.

The summit theme “People you can invest in” is inspired by the Zimbabwe idiom “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo or lizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo”, which is loosely translated to mean “a country is built by its owners”.

The objective of the summit is to showcase the various investment opportunities available in mining, infrastructure development, agriculture, agriprocessing, tourism and the information and communications technology sector.

“We want to ensure investors who wish to participate in the Zimbabwean economy get all the answers to their investment queries by the end of the summit,” says Colin Mackenzie, one of the organisers.

“While Zimbabwe may probably be second only to South Africa in the region for its abundant mineral resources, it is also acknowledged as having the highest educated workforce in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region,” Ambassador of Zimbabwe to South Africa David Hamadziripi says.

Attendance at the investment summit is by invitation only.

In addition to the various Ministers listed to speak on opportunities in mining, infrastructure, tourism and agriculture, notable speakers will also include African Development Bank president Dr Akinwumi Adesina and SADC executive secretary Elias Magosi, among others.
